David Chipperfield collection featured in new Monkey 47 Distillery

e15 partner office PHILIPP MAINZER OFFICE FOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN realised the construction of a high end distillery with adjacent head offices for Black Forest Distillers in the rural community of 24 Höfe near Loßburg, Germany. For the interior fit out, tables, benches and stools from e15’s David Chipperfield collection have been specified.

In close collaboration with Monkey 47, Philipp Mainzer developed an architectural concept which presents the distillery as a rural, pre-industrial production facility. Comprising a total of 1,400 sqm, the project features the production and distillery building, a degustation and tasting space as well as a landmarked grain storehouse, which is the historic heart of the estate and which functions as a small museum featuring the ingredients of the gin. Referencing the unhurried atmosphere of a traditional ‘Schwarzwaldstube’ with its wood-panelled walls and the wooden floor, a custom edition of table FAYLAND, bench FAWLEY and stool LANGLEY by David Chipperfield in oiled, dark pigmented wood have been specified. Conveying authenticity and simple functionality, the David Chipperfield collection features a pure use of material and a clear design language, supporting the reduced yet comfortable interior.

Launched in autumn 2010, Monkey 47 Dry Gin is based on the recipe of Montgomery Collins featuring 47 hand picked herbal ingredients.
