e15 at Galerie Mehdi Chouakri, Wilhelm Hallen

Philipp Mainzer Office for Architecture has redesigned 1,000 square meters of the shed-roofed building to accommodate diverse use of the space with simple and striking architecture. e15 is proud to provide selected furniture for various areas, where functionality and emphasis on the existing building are at the forefront of the installations and conversions.

CALLE

The concept emphasis the juxtaposition of the existing historic building and the new architecture. Considering the intended functions, the new 4m tall walls appear impressive, but still allow the existing building to stand out. The layout supports a variety of inspiring viewpoints, allowing the visitor to explore the space and the exhibited art. Functions are gallery, cabinet featuring the Posenenske archives, private showroom, storage for art, and office.

Philipp Mainzer’s interior design continues into the adjacent offices, where the space is divided into distinct functional areas, through the use of simple, integrated fixtures. A 12-meter-long shelf provides space for Mehdi Chouakri’s library. The freestanding custom-made cabinetry in pale grey in combination with the more organic materials used for the furniture, mainly produced by e15, a brand founded by Philipp Mainzer, provides a contrast to the industrial surroundings and further enhance the space.
