Founded in 1916, German premium car manufacturer BMW Group together with its family of brands celebrates its 100th anniversary with a vision for future urban mobility. For the presentation of the MINI concept car during the international future exhibition, e15 side chair HOUDINI and side table HABIBI have been specified.
In a close collaboration with the MINI Design Team, e15 developed an elaborate custom version of the HOUDINI chair by Stefan Diez, using the materials applied in the interior of the brand’s concept car: A ChromaFlair lacquer with changing colours depending on the viewing angle was used for the seat, while the chair legs are kept in matte black or white lacquer. The intricate upholstery with fabric Pro 3 by Kvadrat, black Alcantara and white Jacroki, all sewn with colour changing yarn, provides additional comfort. Side table HABIBI by Philipp Mainzer in brass was treated with acid to create a unique patina matching details of the car’s dashboard. A dot detail was recreated on a stainless steel tray using a sanding technique.
