e15 lounge chair THAT as well as side tables ENOKI and ALEX have been selected for the visitor’s lounge at documenta 14. As one of the world’s most significant exhibition series for contemporary art, documenta takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany.
At the core of the lounge’s interior concept is an eclectic mix of furniture in black: lounge chairs, tables and lighting from a variety of producers, designers and eras are flexibly combined to create seating islands. The black monochromism deliberately directs the attention of visitors to material, surface, texture, proportion and form, which corresponds with the aim of documenta to highlight different positions and tendencies in art. The black furniture is set against jet black walls to create a radical interior which contrasts the large window front of the room featuring impressive views into the landscape. Supported by e15 as well as other selected brands such as Arper, Artek and Thonet, the documenta lounge is open to international art foundations, museums and trustees.
Initiated by art professor and designer Arnold Bode, documenta is limited to 100 days, showcasing 187 artists across various city locations. The 14th edition takes place between 10 June and 17 September 2017 with artistic direction by Adam Szymczyk, former director of Kunsthalle Basel.
