For the seventh edition of Wallpaper* Handmade 2016, dedicated to hospitality and travel, David Chipperfield together with e15 and the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) develops the solid wood stand BUTLER. Crafted from American willow, BUTLER is a freestanding all-in-one solution, serving as a dressing table, chest of drawers and a valet stand.
Redefining the spatial perception of a hotel room, the BUTLER is characterised by an architectural design featuring a luxurious material palette including brushed brass, vegetable-tanned leather and Bianco Carrara marble. With the aim to place the experience of unpacking in a pleasing and elegant context, the modern interpretation of traditional hotel furniture allows for easy handling combined with a visually appealing design.
With a focus on high-quality craftsmanship, elaborated constructive details such as traditional wood joints and shaped drawer handels define the nature of the solid wood valet. An expansion gap at the back of the furniture allows the wood to expand and shrink, depending on temperature and humidity changes.
