e15 at Interieur, Kortrijk Hall 6, Stand 634, Kortrijk Xpo, Doorniksesteenweg 216, 8500 Kortrijk, Belgien, ww.interieur.be
Exhibition Opening Times Friday, 17 October 2008, 10.00 – 21.00 H Saturday, 18 October – Sunday, 26 October, 10.00 – 18.00 H
Well known German furniture design brand e15 will show at the contemporary interior design fair Interieur in Kortrijk, Belgium. From Thursday, 17 October to Sunday, 26 October e15 will occupy stand 634 in hall 6 in the main fair ground presenting a number of new items from its e15 living collection as well as its well known solid wood classics.
The German brand e15, known primarily for its solid wood classics such as the BACKENZAHN stool and BIGFOOT table will show an inspiring selection of its living, dining and bedroom furniture. Products on display will include the new dining table TA15 JACK and the multifunctional glass side table CT07 DREI, items that were only shown as prototypes in Milan earlier this year. Another main feature on the e15 stand will be its modular sofa system SF03 SHIRAZ in different sizes and textures including cushion designs in exceptional fabrics and traditional Scottish tartans.
With the sofa system SHIRAZ designed by architect Philipp Mainzer, e15 will present furniture that shows new forms, eclectic materials, textures and colours. As a piece of solid-wood furniture, the perfectly proportioned table TA15 JACK follows the company tradition, with white, black or patina stains revealing an entirely new appearance. The solid coloured glass table CT07 DREI, which can be utilised in three different positions, adds a delicate lightness and sense of colour to the range of side tables, complimenting the sofa system SHIRAZ, thereby reflecting the company’s exploration of eclectic and elegant mix of Oriental and Western cultures.
The attraction of the new items presented in Kortrijk is evident both in the individual items of furniture and in combinations of these items with other furniture from the e15 collection. Together, they provide a convincing image of contemporary home living: A diverse and at the same time incredibly harmonious blend of materials, textures, colours, cultures and forms of living, of free artistic approaches, modern formal language and traditional craft skills.
With the e15 Living collection, introduced last year, e15 presents additions to its solid wood classics and firmly establishes itself as an all-round brand for the home living segment. The e15 Living collection includes items such as the sofa system SHIRAZ, which combines Western and Oriental forms of living, and was recently awarded the 2008 Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as the bed PARDIS and the Tartan Collection and the Leather Collection for the sofa system SHIRAZ.
At the heart of e15 furniture designs are influences from art and fashion, as well as new materials and surfaces, proving that the diversity of cultures and creative approaches can lead to an incredibly harmonious collection.
New Product Releases 2008
TA15 JACK Table Design: Philipp Mainzer, 2007
Made of solid wood, the table TA15 JACK in essence follows the tradition of the e15 furniture classics. It adopts the silhouette of the well-known table TA04 BIGFOOT, yet plays with its proportions and reveals a strong, independent design highlighting the interaction with material and surface. The oak table is available in white, black and patina stain and thus adds a completely new appearance and range of colours to the e15 collection. Its perfectly balanced proportions and characteristic surfaces make the table an independent object that radiates solidity and elegance. At the same time, its archetypal shape of a table makes TA15 JACK a particularly adaptable piece of furniture, capable of being integrated in the most diverse living contexts.
The table TA15 JACK is available in lengths of 2100 mm (82 5/8 Inch) and 2400 mm (94 ½ Inch) and a width of 1000 mm (39 3/8 Inch). The height is 750 MM (29 ½ Inch). The material is European oak, available in white, black or patina stain with a clear varnish.
CT07 DREI Side table Design: Philipp Mainzer, 2007
The glass table CT07 DREI extends the e15 range of side tables, complimenting the sofa system SF03 SHIRAZ by exploring the eclectic and elegant forms of living found in oriental and western cultures. The table, composed of three slabs of coloured glass, adds a delicate lightness and sense of colour to the range of side tables as it also explores elements of different cultures and creative trends: the table’s straightforward shape and the different ways it can be used make reference to the reduced forms of modernism such as Bauhaus furniture and the Ulm stool. The glass table CT07 DREI can be used in three different positions and can serve as a side table, storage unit, bedside table and newspaper stand. It is made of 10mm thick, solid-coloured glass.
The dimensions are 400 x 400 x 400mm. CT07 DREI is available in smoke grey and dark blue.
SL05 PARDIS Bed Design: Philipp Mainzer, 2007
The upholstered SL05 PARDIS bed is a natural extension of e15’s SF03 Shiraz sofa system. Like Shiraz, the name Pardis is also Persian, an original word for paradise. In line with the SF03 Shiraz sofa series, the SL05 PARDIS bed eloquently combines elegant design, choice and functionality. The SL05 PARDIS bed is available in two different heights for the headrest, and three separate widths. As an additional feature, the SL05 PARDIS headboard can also be ordered with an extension on either the right or the left hand side or alternatively extending on both sides of the frame. The SL05 PARDIS bed is enhanced by individual modules of the SF03 SHIRAZ sofa series, which also provide additional seating and storage spaces.
SL05 PARDIS is available for mattresses in 140 x 200 cm, 160 x 200 cm, 180 x 200 cm and 200 x 200 cm as well as in full, queen und king size. The headboard can be fitted with an extension on either the right hand side, the left hand side, on both sides or flush closure to the frame. The extension on each side is 450 mm.
TARTAN COLLECTION Fabrics Selected by Farah Ebrahimi
A tartan is a plaid made by cross-weaving different coloured strands of wool. Best known in the form of kilts, tartan patterns are still worn in Scotland to differentiate between members of different clans, whereby the differing patterns rather than the specific colour schemes identify the wearer’s membership in an individual clan. In a desire to bring pattern, colour and boldness to the collection while remaining consistent with e15’s modern aesthetic, Farah Ebrahimi has selected the highest quality tartan fabrics for the SF03 SHIRAZ sofa series concept. Original Scottish plaids are now available as accentuating cushion slips or as coverings for entire modules. The corresponding colour spectrum ranges from graphic combinations of black and white to brilliant, colourful medleys, such as blue, purple and sulphur yellow. The combination of different patterns and colour elements is a conscious design choice. E15obtains its plaid fabrics exclusively from select tartan weavers in the Scottish highlands who still pursue their trade according to traditional methods and using only the finest in hand-spun Scottish wools.
CP03 KAVIR Carpet Design: Philipp Mainzer, Farah Ebrahimi, 2007
With a high density of 80 knots per square inch, the CP03 KAVIR carpet is handmade according to traditional methods. The single-toned surface extends lengthwise into black fringes on the sides. The fringe detail becomes more than just a design element, as it reveals the hand-woven framework of all e15 carpets. Like all e15 carpets, the CP03 KAVIR is produced in a socially and environmentally responsible manner by a family-owned business in Nepal without the involvement of child labour.
