RECOMMENDED CARE OF SOLID WOOD FURNITURE - INTRODUCTION
The beauty of our high quality furniture can be maintained with the right care. Solid wood is a natural product, it varies in colour and grain, it expands and contracts. The selection of the timber and construction of e15 furniture takes these facts into account.
Enhancing the natural beauty of the material, e15 furniture is made out of broad boards of solid wood maintaining their particular natural colouring and existing features. All cracks and knotholes on tabletops are filled with black polyester filler. The filler provides a smooth surface, ensures hygiene, and enhances the characteristics of the wood. It makes each individual piece of furniture unique.
Wood expands and contracts generally against its grain. For this reason e15 integrates structural gap in a few models, which allow for expansion or contraction of the solid wood, if the temperature or humidity changes. The tables TA04 BIGFOOT™, TA05 MADAME LILLIE and CT04 BERTA have a gap around the legs, where they intersect with the tabletop. Due to seasonal humidity changes, there might be a slight variation in height in this section. The width of the gap around the legs might change. The tables TA07 MARLENE and TA08 FABIAN have a middle gap that may vary slightly.
Please also note that solid wood may be subject to colour change under the influence of bright light or uv rays such as sunlight. Generally lighter woods tend to become darker with age whereas darker woods fade.
This is a natural process and not a defect of the material. For the finishing of all solid wood furniture e15 only uses oil, a traditional wood sealant. On principal e15 does not apply varnish. E15 uses an ecological mineral oil, which is also recommended for further care. It maintains the long lasting, incomparable quality of solid wood furniture.
IMPORTANT NOTE
E15 offers different maintenance products. To protect your e15 product it is necessary to use the recommended maintenance product only. Please note that surfaces finished with a pigment oil must not be sanded. Please contact e15 for further assistance.
